Supermarket adapts its trolleys so dogs can ride up front on the weekly shop
Trolleys for dogs
Instead of being left outside on the street, dogs can now help out with the weekly shop at this Italian grocery store. After seeing how many dogs were left tied up outside the shop, while their owners rushed around inside, Gianfranco Galantini, owner of Unes grocery shop in the city of Liano, decided to make his trolleys dog-friendly.
He fitted some of his fleet with a special partitioned section, which has a solid bottom, allowing dogs to sit or stand up front. “The owners of small dogs can now avoid having to leave them outside, giving them peace of mind to take all the time they need to make their purchases. The initiative launched just recently, but we’ve already noticed how much our customers appreciate it.” Small dogs are legally allowed to enter stores like Unes, as long as they are kept under control and, so far, the shop hasn’t encountered any issues with its specially adapted trolleys, which are cleaned after each use. In fact, the trolleys have proved so popular with customers that the grocery chain is considering rolling them out in other branches. Of course, it’s all great until you get home and discover Fido’s been sneaking in extra treats meat while your back was turned!
